Overview

A wilderness safari in Rwanda is a journey into raw, untamed beauty where nature writes the script. In the mist-draped jungles, chimpanzees call from the canopy as ancient trees tower overhead, while the open plains  reveal lions, elephants and giraffes moving freely against golden horizons. Far from the noise of the modern world, Rwanda’s wilderness invites you to slow down, breathe deep and experience the wild the way it was meant to be — pure, powerful and profoundly humbling.

The park has a variety of wildlife and is a habitat for over 500 different species of birds. Herds of elephant and buffalo emerge from the woodland to drink at the water sources. The small fish called sambaza make a daily sauce for residents of Karongi. Very testy and healthy indeed. You should try them. After lunch, we will drive through the Congo Nile crest and follow the road to Musanze and stay at Red Rocks Rwanda, an indigenous Rwandan village in the countryside.

Day 6: Rwandan Cultural Village

You will enjoy breakfast with the local community in the Rocks Cultural Village where you should interact with the Rwandan Culture through local industry, weaving, cuisine and dance. The Intore were known for their remarkable technique allowing them to jump over 2 metres. The warriors’ dance is a jewel of Rwandan heritage. Dressed in man made sisal fibre tied at the ankles, little bells jingle at each step, giving the warriors’ dance a thrilling rhythm. Through the Intore ballet, physical confrontation turns into artistic rivalry culminating in a vigorous hug of the warriors. This is the most artistic gesture of friendship mutual aid and protection. Through this cultural experience, you will be taken through the traditional and authentic wedding and practices and catch a glimpse of the long time lifestyle of the Rwandan people.
